MEET THE
John DeCarrier
Senior Managing Director, CEO
John DeCarrier is an accomplished and seasoned business operator with over 40 years of experience. He is responsible for the overall vision and execution of DB7 Ventures. John spent the majority of his career in the McDonald’s organization, where he worked in franchise development for over 20 years and later became an owner-operator of over 21 McDonald’s locations in the greater Chicago area. These locations had annual sales of $85M and over 1,500 employees. John successfully exited the McDonald’s system in 2022.

In addition to his deep consumer, operational, marketing and people development background, John is also an accomplished real estate investor. With nearly $100M in real estate assets combined, John and his team have completed over 50 real estate developments across the US.

John’s passion is working with people and the opportunity to build together. Him and his wife, Carmen, have been active charitable givers in the Chicago area for the past 20 years choosing to focus on enriching the lives of others less fortunate.
Andrew Brown
Managing Director, President
Andrew Brown is an accomplished strategy and insights executive who has invested and analyzed deals across consumer, real estate, and lending. Andrew works closely with John and the advisory team to drive performance, focus, and capital allocation. He's spent most of his career leveraging data and insights to drive meaningful changes in Fortune 100 brands. Most recently, Andrew led brand excellence at Ipsos, one of the largest market research companies in the world. He consulted with brands across consumer, healthcare, telecommunications, and technology sectors to improve marketing return on investment.
Andrew is a member of the DB7 leadership team and leads the due diligence and investment committee.
Maranatha Weathersby
Managing Partner, COO
Maranatha Weathersby is a seasoned operations executive with more than a decade of experience in the restaurant industry. She has spent her entire career within the McDonald’s system in Chicago, primarily working with John to run his extensive portfolio of restaurants. Mara deeply understands the operational elements that make successful consumer-facing companies, including managing P&Ls, reporting and analytics, forecasting, people management and labor scheduling, food cost control, and contractual agreements.
Mara is a member of the DB7 leadership team, the due diligence team, and the investment committee.
